"This is war"; NATO is dead, Trump is losing, and chaos ensues?

Kasparov emphasized, “We are now, as I say, in a global war between freedom and tyranny.”

Having previously predicted the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was asked about his forecasts for 2026.

His response was not very optimistic. According to Večernji list, which also published a video of the interview, Kasparov predicted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán would lose the elections in Hungary, and Donald Trump would lose the midterm elections in the U.S. Congress.

In his view, these political changes could also be accompanied by violence.

Kasparov also expressed concern over Russian President Vladimir Putin, warning that there is a high likelihood he may attempt to cross NATO borders later this year just to demonstrate that NATO in its current form is ineffective.

“As long as Putin remains in power, the war will continue, and this applies not only to Ukraine but to Europe as well. War is like cancer: if you don’t cut it out early, it spreads. I fear we will see Russian aggression expand to other countries this year,” Kasparov said.

Kasparov stated, “We know that ‘terrorists’ are working together—Russia supports Iran, and behind them is China. So this is war, and Russian aggression is the main battlefield in this war between freedom and tyranny.

Speaking about the war in the Middle East, Kasparov, a well-known critic of the U.S. president, said he believes the United States had no choice but to respond militarily to threats from Iran.

Kasparov was in Croatia to organize the seventh edition of the Zagreb ‘Grand Chess Tour’, which he brought to the country. The tournament will take place again this year in the Croatian capital in early July, featuring some of the world’s top chess players today.
