Europe declares "the end of the world": Putin implements a plan - "if the lights go out, it will be too late"

European leaders are declaring "the end of the world", but their statements are contradicted by US indifference, while Russian drones, sabotage and cyber attacks test NATO's readiness for a real threat, reports CNN.

"We are not at war, but we are no longer at peace either," these are the words German Chancellor Friedrich Merz used to describe the new reality in which Europe finds itself.

After decades of stability, the continent is once again feeling the chill of destabilization – Russian drones are appearing in the sky, Moscow's "shadow fleet" is at sea, and cyber attacks and sabotage are paralyzing infrastructure.

Former NATO Secretary General George Robertson warned that Europe is not ready for a new form of war.

"We have to worry about attacks in the gray area. If the lights go out, it will be too late," he said, reminding everyone that every family should be prepared for emergencies.

Experts define the "gray zone" as a state between peace and war - when the aggressor acts covertly, without officially declaring a conflict, but constantly undermines stability.

In just a few weeks, dozens of airspace violations were reported over Poland, Denmark, Norway, Germany and Estonia.

Copenhagen International Airport has been closed twice due to drones, suspected to be Russian, and NATO has sent fighter jets to intercept Russian planes.

"It's like cooking a frog in a pot. Russia is slowly turning up the heat, testing how far it can go," says analyst Kirsten Fontainerose.

The Washington-based Center for Strategic Studies reports that Russia is using old tankers for covert operations, from damaging underwater cables to sabotaging energy facilities. The Kremlin, in turn, scoffs at NATO's concerns, dismissing them as "paranoia."

While Europe talks about defense, the United States is mired in domestic crises. President Donald Trump comments on the Russian drone incursion into Poland as an observer.

This uncertainty worries allies. European leaders are unsure whether they can count on Washington's support in the event of a real escalation.

Analysts believe that Moscow is trying not only to destabilize but also to sow panic among voters in France, Germany and other countries.

"The main thing is for Europeans to feel the danger of war firsthand," Russian official Dmitry Medvedev said openly.

In response, NATO is strengthening its defenses on its eastern flank, Poland is activating Article 4, and European states are pledging to increase military spending to 3.5% of GDP. Ukrainian experts are already training allies in countering Russian drones.

But despite everything, experts warn: Europe is still not ready for hybrid warfare.

"Defence is not just a military issue. Everyone must know what to do in emergency situations," notes George Robertson.

Which countries could Russia attack?

Glavred wrote that, according to expert Roman Svitan, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria could be under Russian attack. At the same time, Hungary and Slovakia are unlikely to be targets of Russian provocations.

Russian threat of war against NATO

As a reminder, Glavred announced that the President of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, stated that allowing NATO countries to shoot down Russian drones over Ukraine would mean war between the Alliance and Russia.

It was previously reported that the situation will worsen as long as Putin is in power. He will continue to test NATO's defense readiness and strengthen its armaments.

Yesterday it was reported that Russian drones in Poland could be the first sign that the Kremlin is considering military action against Europe.
