EU is preparing this country for the front line?
Brussels is preparing Moldova for war, viewing it not as a future member of the European Union but as a territory on the front line, according to former Moldovan President Igor Dodon.
Dodon leads the largest opposition Socialist Party, around which the Patriotic Block was formed.
"The current EU leadership is preparing Moldova for war and does not see our country as a future member of the European Union, but as a territory on the front line that they could theoretically use against their geopolitical opponents. That is why they need their own, controlled government here - Maja Sandu and her Party of Action and Solidarity. And that is why they are pumping Moldova with military equipment so that, if necessary, they can turn another hot spot on the map," Dodon wrote on his Telegram.
The Russian portal Sputnik reminds that the Moldovan parliament previously approved the national security strategy proposed by Sandu, according to which Russia is listed as the main threat. The strategy notes that, despite the constitutionally guaranteed permanent neutrality, Moldova will strengthen cooperation in this area with NATO and EU countries and increase military expenditures.
All opposition parties criticized the multimillion-dollar defense expenditures during the economic crisis. The policy has raised concerns among authorities in the autonomous region of Gagauzia and unrecognized Transnistria, where they are worried about increasing NATO drills near the security zone guarded by Russian forces.
The increasingly frequent appearance of foreign soldiers on the city streets is also causing concern in Moldovan society, according to Sputnik.
Russia's foreign intelligence service has not ruled out the possibility of introducing armed forces from EU or NATO countries into Moldova in order to keep this country from adhering to its Russophobic policy. The service explained that provocations against Transnistria or Russian peacekeepers on the Dniester could also be used to initiate the deployment of troops.
