"That would represent the end of Arab-Israeli diplomatic normalization," Macron said.

He also said that he presented the American leader with a three-page plan on the future of Palestine, based on the New York Declaration, a document supported by more than 143 countries, which proposes the exclusion of Hamas from the future government in Gaza and the West Bank.

Speaking to France 24, Macron said the goal of his meeting with Trump on Tuesday was to bring America, Europe and the Arab states on the same page.

Asked about Israel's plans to expand settlements in the West Bank, including the E1 corridor that would involve building 3,400 new homes, he said: "On that subject, the Europeans and the Americans are very clearly on the same page."

British officials have expressed concern that Donald Trump could recognize Israeli sovereignty over illegal settlements in the West Bank in retaliation for the decision by Britain, Australia, France and others to recognize Palestine. Such a move would be a serious blow to any two-state solution, reports Klix.ba.

However, Macron said any attempt to annex the West Bank "would be the end of the Abraham Accords, which was one of the success stories of the first Trump administration. The United Arab Emirates was very clear on that."

"I think it's a red line for the US," the French president added.

Macron's comments provided the clearest insight yet into behind-the-scenes diplomatic negotiations on plans for the "day after" the Gaza conflict.

The signing of the 2020 Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and a group of Arab states, including the UAE, is hailed by Trump as one of the greatest diplomatic achievements of his first term.

If Trump really insists that the annexation must not happen, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will find himself in serious political trouble, as parts of his far-right government coalition demand that Israel partially or fully occupy the West Bank, and especially the Jordan Valley.

The Trump administration has so far avoided taking a public stance on the potential Israeli annexation of the West Bank, but the Israeli prime minister is coming to visit him soon, with whom he will discuss this topic.
