Two more days of scorching heat: Temperatures continue to rise; Warning issued over a serious hazard
The Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMZ) has issued a warning for very high temperatures across the country through July 2, with today's maximum temperatures forecast to range between 36°C and 40°C.
A change in the weather is expected on Wednesday, with localized severe weather possible late in the day and overnight into Thursday across northern and western Serbia. On Thursday, similar conditions may affect other parts of the country, bringing heavy rainfall in a short period, strong to gale-force winds, and isolated hail.
Temperatures are expected to ease slightly on Wednesday, with highs ranging from 32°C to 35°C, though conditions will remain very hot. From Thursday onward, maximum daytime temperatures are forecast to stay below 30°C across most of the country.
The Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMZ) has warned that the ongoing heat wave could increase the risk of wildfires, particularly in regions experiencing the greatest soil moisture deficit due to prolonged lack of rainfall.
In Belgrade, the heat wave is expected to bring a high of around 38°C today. A slight cooldown is forecast for Wednesday, with temperatures still reaching around 34°C, while daytime highs are expected to fall below 30°C from Thursday.
Water levels on the Danube near Bezdan and downstream from Novi Sad, on the Sava near Belgrade, and on the Tisa near Titel are expected to remain around or slightly below low navigational levels over the coming days.
