Alarm across Serbia; RHMZ issues early-morning warning; A brief respite is coming, then the heat returns PHOTO
The State Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia (RHMZ) issued a warning this morning about high temperatures across Serbia, including Belgrade.
According to data released at 7 a.m., Belgrade was the warmest this morning at 23°C, while the coolest was Sjenica, where 11°C was recorded.
From today through Saturday, August 15, temperatures are expected to drop, ranging from 29°C to 34°C, with temperatures reaching up to 36°C in southern and eastern Serbia today. From Sunday, August 16, temperatures are expected to rise again, reaching around or above 35°C, according to the warning.
The high temperatures will also be accompanied by a lack of rainfall, with the period of high risk of wildfires starting and spreading expected to continue. RHMZ also warned of adverse impacts on public health, as well as critical infrastructure, traffic, transport, tourism, agriculture, livestock farming and other socioeconomic sectors dependent on weather conditions.
In its warning for high temperatures in the Belgrade area, RHMZ said that from today through Saturday, August 15, temperatures are expected to drop to between 31°C and 34°C. From Sunday, August 16, temperatures are expected to rise again to around or above 35°C.
