“We are ready to help,” he said.
Krušik-Plastika a.d. was founded in 1975 by Valjevo-based Krušik as a factory for processing plastics intended for the needs of almost all sectors of the economy, including the construction, chemical, food-processing, automotive, and arms and military equipment industries.
According to the company’s official website, its finished products have for years been sold not only throughout the Southeast European region but also in Western European markets, particularly Austria, Belgium and Norway, where the company has regular customers.
In addition, products manufactured as components incorporated into various devices produced by the company’s partners are distributed to nearly 50 countries worldwide, including the United States and Russia.
New road investments in Osečina
Vučić said that a total of six million euros will be invested in local roads in the municipality of Osečina, adding that work on completing the remaining section of the road in Gornje Crniljevo will begin soon.
Vučić said that €2.5 million has already been invested in local roads in Osečina and that work is currently underway on three routes, bringing the total investment to more than €4 million, he noted.
“We will add more than €1.5 million to bring us closer to the figure of €6 million invested in local roads. I hope that this will at least fulfill part of what we promised you. We also owe it to the people of Gornje Crniljevo to complete the section that has not yet been finished, and we will start work on it soon,” Vučić said at the opening of the 21st Plum Fair in Osečina.
“Plum is Serbia’s first recognizable brand and a pillar of Serbian agriculture”
“I am happy to be back in Osečina,” Vučić said, adding that plums are the most important brand for us Serbs and the first Serbian brand to cross the oceans, as well as Serbia’s first globally recognizable product. He stressed that plums are a pillar of Serbian agriculture.
“Today we have gathered to celebrate a fruit that is more than just a fruit to us, a fruit that has shaped the life, economy and identity of this entire region for centuries. It has always been the result of the hard work and skill of our ancestors, the local farmers who, in the drying houses of Podgorina, in brandy stills and in jam-making facilities, created products that can rival the best in the world,” Vučić said.
He stressed that it was precisely this tradition that made the plum a pillar of Serbian agriculture, with Podgorina becoming its natural heartland.
“The history of plum growing in Serbia stretches back centuries, from the monastic and feudal estates of the Middle Ages, through the great expansion during the era of Miloš, when plum exports became one of the most profitable businesses in Serbia at the time. From 1864 onward, plums ceased to be used primarily as raw material for brandy and jam and began to be dried for trade. Those dried plums became Serbia’s main brand before we even knew the term ‘brand,’” Vučić said.
He stressed that plums helped establish Serbia’s reputation as a reliable and high-quality producer in European and global markets.
“Back in 1879, the Principality of Serbia exported more than 37,500 tons of plums to the United States, worth as much as $30 million at the time. At a time when Serbia was still building its institutions and international reputation, plums from these hills were already reaching tables far across the Atlantic,” Vučić said.
He stressed that this same strength lives on in the more than 2,700 households in Osečina engaged in plum growing.
“What your ancestors left to you as a legacy, you continue to nurture, improve and proudly showcase around the world. Today, numerous stalls feature fresh and dried plums, jam, preserves and brandy — all products that are brands of this region. This is a window through which foreign visitors and potential investors view Osečina and Serbia. Our task today is the same as that of our ancestors 150 years ago — to maintain quality, boldly enter global markets, and ensure that what generations before us have built is not forgotten,” he said.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić opened the “Osečina 2026” Plum Fair as part of his visit to the Mačva District.
Vučić first visited the stalls at the fair and spoke with exhibitors. When one local farmer asked him to build a road to his village, Vučić said he would try to do everything he could, but could not make any promises.
Vučić also attended the presentation of plaques to the largest exporter of dried plums from Serbia, which this year was Agranela d.o.o. Valjevo, as well as to the largest exporter of dried plums from the Osečina area, Podgorina-voće d.o.o. The plaques were presented by Osečina Municipal President Nikola Tomić.
The Plum Fair will run through August 30, with the event aimed at preserving the region’s plum-growing tradition and promoting agriculture.
Over the three days of the fair, visitors can expect exhibitions, competitions, professional programs, cultural events, presentations of traditional crafts and local products, as well as concerts.

The Plum Fair in Osečina was first held in 2006 with the aim of restoring the plum — one of the most widespread fruit crops in Serbia and one of the symbols of Podgorina — to the place it deserves, while also improving fruit production and processing and showcasing the economic, tourism and cultural potential of the region.
This year’s fair will bring together producers, farmers, exhibitors and visitors from Serbia and the wider region, with a special part of the program dedicated to presenting new knowledge and technologies in fruit growing and fruit processing.
Agricultural and commercial products, planting material and equipment will be on display, while visitors will be able to taste and purchase traditional Podgorina products, including plum brandy, plum jam, preserves, dried plums, plum cake and other products prepared according to traditional recipes.
