IMF: Negotiations with Serbia to resume in fall

"The new government is now in the process of formulating its economic policy, as well as making an estimate of the damage caused by the recent catastrophic floods and of the funds needed for recovery," IMF Resident Representative for Serbia Daehaeng Kim said, and added:

"The IMF will continue to provide economic advice and technical assistance, and we expect the talks on the program to continue in the fall."

Kim recalled that an IMF mission visited Belgrade early this year after the Serbian officials' request for a new program, adding that the talks were constructive and, at that point, planned to resume after a new government is formed following the March 16 parliamentary elections.
