According to Fomin, consultations were held with Iran, Egypt, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, while Serbia and Armenia have already confirmed their willingness to send their experts, Sputnik said.

Fomin added that Chinese could join the Serbians and the Armenians, while other countries expressed their willingness to financially support demining operations in Syria.

This comes after media in Belgrade recently said that Serbian deminers would be sent to Syria, "but on the Russian side" - and that this was behind a clash between Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and US Ambassador Kyle Scott.

According to the daily Blic, the US was upset by the decision because it had set aside substantial financial resources to support the training of Serbian deminers.
