Speaking at the opening of the summit between China and Central and Eastern European states, Li said that the rail line is a link that will at least halve the travel time between Belgrade and Budapest, Tanjug is quoting the Belgrade-based daily Blic as reporting.

The rail line should be completed in two years.

The summit of China and 16 Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) started in the Chinese city of Suzhou on Tuesday, with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in attendance.

“The summit is a major chance for Serbia. We are honored as a country. I have the opportunity to speak before Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, presenting Serbia, and this illustrates Serbia's, I cannot say privileged, but very its good position in China,” Vucic told RTS.

Vucic said that Serbia would sign the biggest number of agreements in the summit, in the fields of energy, road and rail infrastructure, agriculture and tourism.

“We want to improve our cooperation in all fields,” the Serbian prime minister underscored.
