A monument to Gavrilo Princip was unveiled on Sunday in Belgrade in the presence of Serbian and RS presidents Tomislav Nikolic and Milorad Dodik.

“Gavrilo Princip was a hero, a symbol of the idea of freedom, the assassin of tyrants and the carrier of the European idea of liberation from slavery,” Nikolic said at the ceremony.
As far as Germany and Austria-Hungary were concerned, World War I was imminent even without the assassination, he said, and added that "then, as well as now, as always, Serbia opposed the war. We deserved and received the halo of the righteous victors during and immediately after both world wars."
"If Winston Churchill in his book 'The Unknown War' wrote that Princip died in prison, while a monument erected by his compatriots glorifies his crime and genocide, then the draft (British) resolution on Srebrenica is not surprising, that would make only Srebrenica a symbol of crime from now on," Nikolic said.
In reference to the crimes committed in Croatia's death camps and by German and Hungarian occupying forces in Serbia during World War II, the president said he would "not allow those Serbs slaughtered and killed with sledgehammers in Jasenovac, Stara Gradiska, Jadovno, those executed by firing squads in Kraljevo and Kragujevac, drowned in Novi Sad, to be insulted."
Serbia, Nikolic continued, is not today defending Princip and his comrades - instead, "they are defending Serbia with the defense presented at their trial that was never completed, while the war was well underway, with their perseverance on the truth, ideas, and motives, even when they were imprisoned in inhumane conditions and dying in agony."
"Serbia is expressing its stance on the 'rebelled angels' - as Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric called them - here and now, with the monument to Princip, that has been awaited for more than a century," the president said.
The monument is the work of sculptor Zoran Kuzmanovic from Smederevo, a gift to the City of Belgrade from the citizens of the Serb Republic (RS), the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
An identical monument was unveiled in East Sarajevo, RS, a year ago.
"Freedom and unity"
The monument to Gavrilo Princip unveiled in Serbia on Sunday "is a symbol of the fight for freedom and unity of the Serbian people," Milorad Dodik said, addressing the gathering.
"The Serbian people does not want to be oppressed in the new, modern conditions of oppression, they want to build partnership and peace with others," he said, according to Tanjug.
The RS leader added that "we must reject all attacks facing the Serbian people," and cited the example of the resolution on Srebrenica.
Dodik, who earlier qualified the document as anti-Serb, stressed that Srebrenica is an area in which a huge number of people from both sides were killed. He urged the British "to say who killed more than 3,500 Serbs in the area during the 1991-1995 war."
Dodik voiced his gratitude to Nikolic, and PM Aleksandar Vucic "for defending the interests of the RS and opposing the shameful British draft resolution on Srebrenica."
Dodik also "criticized leading Western countries which do not allow a referendum on the independence of the RS," according to Tanjug.
There is no bosnian king who ever said they were serb in any way. Bosnian kings were catholics and were strongly connected to the bosnian church which was a branch of catholic church.
You talk about sources but where are your sources honestly? There is no source showing how bosnian kings were serbian, there are no sources showing how dalmatia is serbian either. I read alot of history beacuse it interests me. I read from alot of authors that have no connection to Bosnia as well.
And as Nada Klaic pointed out it isnt reliable source as have other historians agreed on that beacuse Constantine only points out the tribes that were admitted to byzantine powers.
So where are those sources you talk about? I think you are just lying about sources pointing that out as you have not shown any and i have never heard any of that but only from serbian nationalists.
(Edwin, 4 July 2015 14:43)
Ok ill give you sources that are not bosnian(i never use bosnian either ways anyways)
About constantine
" One can understand that there will be a little difficult for Cirkovic to prove his theory of a Serbian Bosnia with the help of Constantine's data on the Serbs' exodus because the emperor puts those , we also know why , in Serbia , Zahumlje , Narentines and Tvarunien and Konavle . All it where, in those days , when all these countries admitted Bysantiums powers. when not even the emperor himself claimed that Bosnia , then the Slavic immigration was Serb , certainly he would do it if there was any truth in the allegation , it remains only for critical thinking historians to from the Emperor's own words, conclude that Bosnia since its beginning was Bosnian . " Nada Klaic a historian who is not bosnian
As you see from your own source Constantine did not claim that the tribes in Bosnia was serbian otherwise he would point it out. And as i said they recognized Byzantium power and were recognized by Byzantium. You clearly are to retarded to comprehend these facts. It isnt simple as you think.

" It is widely known that before the Turks' arrival there were no Orthodox in Bosnia , it is a closed chapter for us " Mihailo Dinic a SERB historian
"There is no evidence that there existed a single Orthodox Church in Bosnia before the Ottoman occupation of the country " Vladimir Corovic another serb historian.

Gavrilo Princip was resisting against an occupier and wanted to liberate his homeland. Kosovo Albanians were not occupied. They wanted to take something which wasn't theirs to take. To secede from a country is very different from trying to rid yourself of an occupier.
(Peggy, 1 July 2015 14:50)
The question then is, since Serbs are not original inhabitants of the Balkans, and thus they took land which was not theirs, and thus they at one point they themselves became occupiers, then why don't you have a problem with Serbia being the original occupier? If you are basing all your argument on the basis of the occupier principle, then the Serbs for sure weren't teleported from space into a totally empty piece of land. Or maybe you're not against it because you are a Serb and as a Serb it is easy to rationalize and come up with excuses as to why being a Serb occupier is OK, but being an Austro-Hungarian occupier is not OK. In that case your whole argument is pure non-sense and you're simply celebrating a dude because he is a Serb, not because somehow you have a principled view against occupiers and occupation. In that case your argument viewing Austro-Hungarians as occupiers is no more valid then Albanians viewing Serbs as occupiers. Your subjectivity is no more valuable then anyone else's subjectivity.

This is unbelievable! Princip is being commemorated as a hero for being responsible for millions of deaths and ending four empires! This is why I wipe my unmentionable with the Serbian flag!
(Thomas Reich, 3 July 2015 00:14)
Really pathetic. Another attempt to portray the heavenly people as resistors to foreign empires. Not surprised in the least however, Serbs have a tendency of believing nonsense
(Nikolle, 30 June 2015 15:46)
Of course to an albanian its pathetic to put up a statue of someone who killed a tyrant.
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 21:52)
It's like saying Hitler wasn't responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews because he personally never turned on the gas. Princip is a terrorist thug that caused mass misery for the people in Europe at that time. Can you Serbs please honor someone who has never fired a shot at a human being or thrown them in large pits.
(Bam Bam, 30 June 2015 10:11)
We are not the ones celebrating Jasenovac, Jadovno and Pavelic. We will always celebrate those who bring pain and misery to albanians and croats, they make the world a better place.
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:20)
Doesn't this recognition of an Internationaly know Serb Terrorist show everyone Serbs true character?
(Azir, 29 June 2015 21:42)
Since when is someone who kills an occupier and dictator a terrorist? He is one of the greatest heroes in the history of sfrj with streets called after him in every single city. We serbs don't celebrate occupiers like you albs and croats celebrated the nazis, we celebrate those who kill them. And yes this shows our true character, we celebrate BRAVE people not spineless cowards.
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:17)
Gavrilo Princip, a serb and yugoslav hero with streets and squares named after him allowed sfrj. Neka ti je vecna slavs i hvala!
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:14)
Edwin, De administrando imperio by Constantine is the most reliable source for that period, all historians agree except bosnian muslim chauvinists. He never included a bunch of tribes? It seems like you knew better than him about that period, a stupid argument. Bosancica is just a version of serb cyrillic. Land of Dalmatia (Bosnia) was described (by all sources) as Serbia and and after death of Caslav, serb ruler, who died defending it, Bosnia separates. You remember from school, or maybe you skiped some classes, Bosnia was just a land around river Bosnia. Bosnian kings considered themselves as Serbs, you can learn that from their sources. Yes, we can talk about it.

“orthodox people were never enemy of Ottoman Empire …. It was not easy as a catholic to live in Ottoman Empire but it was alot easier as a orthodox to live in that empire. … how Lazar daugther married turkish sultan … Vuk Brankovic. A guy who falsely accused of treachery.”
I sign under every word above. It’s very strange to hear them from a non-Serbian but
1/ Till late 17 century Ottoman Empire was an Orthodox Christian Empire and Sultan in 1703 Mustafa II was the first Sultan buried in accordance to Islam traditions. All the previous were buried as Christians either in St.Sophia Church of Istanbul or in the churches in the Greek/Bulgar town of Adrianopole (Erdine).
2/ Catholics were mortal enemies of the Ottomans and we know why. It started in 1453 when the Horde seized Tsar Grad and Emperor Manuil II followed his Patriarch to Vatican with the Byzanty gold and history books. They demonized the Horde calling for Crusade wars. Ottoman(Ataman),Osman and Turk names appeared in early 18 century.
3/ Lazar married his daughter because both sides were Orthodox Christians.
4/ In 1389 only Orthodox Christians fought on both sides as Turk/Tatars nation was formed only in the 19 century. Before that they had no access to the state power in Istanbul. Brankovic could not be a traitor because it was a civil war inside the Horde. And I suppose Serbs were always on the “Turkish” side because Murad-I in fact was Dmitry Donskoy while Bayased-I was his son Basely-I.
(rote, 1 July 2015 19:04)
Dude if you wanna debate something then keep your facts straight. There are documents and old writings of people in Bosnia called Bosnjani and their writing bosancica.
"The Charter of Ban Kulin was a trade agreement between Bosnia and the Republic of Ragusa that effectively regulated Ragusan trade rights in Bosnia written on 29 August 1189. It is one of the oldest written state documents in the Balkans and is among the oldest historical documents written in Bosnian Cyrillic (Bosančica). The charter is of great significance in Bosnian national pride and historical heritage."
I only pickes out witv one of the most famous ones. There are several writings where for example Stjepan Kotromanic talked about three people in that writings. Bosnjanin hungarians and serbs as three seperate people
And if you were interested in history you would of know that Constantine did not have all the tribes included in his writings only those he recognized. He also mentioned a different people over the drina river which is now Bosnian territory and has been for 1000 years. Furthermore historians dont rely on Constantines writings beacuse lf reason stated as it wasnt accurate considering he missed a bunch of other tribes.
Idk how you can deny this thing. Never understood this from serbs. Ok if you interested in history we can debate about it but if you havent even read a book from a neutral historian then why even talk about history like you do now?
(Edwin, 1 July 2015 18:37)
Gavrilo Pricip and the black hand gang was a freedom fighter, in a similar way Thaci and the glorious KLA was.

...and the first person to reply to me proves my point totally. So the noble Serbs were not only resisting imperialism, they were resisting a particular kind of imperialism, the tyrannical kind. talk about a person so wrapped up in myth he has lost all sense of perspective. who knows Duh, maybe it'd had been a lot better for the Southern Slavs to remain part of Austria-Hunagry, then maybe tragedies like Srbebrenica and Jasenovac would never have happened
(Nikolle, 1 July 2015 11:08)
"Well I personally think Gavrilo Princip was a dupe. I think the whole thing was arranged and enabled by the AUSTRIAN GOVERNMENT. "
(ida, 1 July 2015 00:57)
How come that this doesn't surprise me at all?
P.S: You believe in the lunar landing hoax, too, don't you? Or that YU was 'destroyed' by the west?
(Questioner., 1 July 2015 10:26)
Edwin, you speak about Bosnjani? Early medieval sources mention only Serbs and Croats and their lands. By Constantine and Einhard its Serbs that settle Dalmatia(Bosnia). No one even mentiones Bosnjani. Bosnia in the beginning was just a geographical term. Serbs who lived converted themselves into muslims. That treachery causes themproblems even nowdays.
(RighteousBilly, 1 July 2015 10:25)
Only reason serbs are not muslims today is beacuse orthodox people were never enemy of Ottoman Empire. If you were smart enough to figure it out yourself youd see that only catholic countries like Bosnia and Albania converted to Islam beacuse catholicsm was number 1 enemy of Ottoman Empire. It was not eaay as a catholic to live in Ottoman Empire but it was alot easier as a orthodox to live in that empire.
If we gonna talk about sell outs how about how Lazar daugther married turkish sultan and serbian vassals helping turks on their conquest of Balkans.
Or how about how you spit on your greateat hero Vuk Brankovic. A guy who falsely accused of treachery. The guy was the only serbian noble who did not partake in turkish conquest and he was left to die by the turks. I feel sorry for that guy considering he is now used as a negative tool for serbian propaganda.
(Edwin, 1 July 2015 09:57)
Well I personally think Gavrilo Princip was a dupe. I think the whole thing was arranged and enabled by the AUSTRIAN GOVERNMENT. It (nor Austria's military) did not like the Archduke at all - nor his morgantic wife. No one mourned him at his funeral and even his uncle seemed glad he was gone. The Archduke stood in the way of a wanted war with Serbia.
Germany also wanted to attack a rising Russia before it got to strong. Both Germany and Austria-Hungary had been discussion the possibility of war for well over a year before.
The Austrian forces did not give him any protection, and did not abort his tour in the open car, even after the dud-bombs were thrown at him.
They drove the Archduke to directly where Princip stood and stopped the car. The car stayed stopped and allowed Princip to walk up to the Archduke and shoot him almost point blank. No one interfered with him until the deed was done.
Austrian intelligence could and probably did infiltrated and send information to Serb radical groups to help get the whole thing going. The Serbs might have thought it was a patriotic thing - but it was something planted in their heads by Austrian Intelligence who designed it to give them an excuse to attack Serbia - and get rid of the Archduke they didn't like nor mourn, yet made a big deal about for foreign consumption.
(ida, 1 July 2015 00:57)
These comments from undedicated albo pizza flippers and their taxi driving croat friends are hilarious! Listen fellas, I realize you have no history of your own, and you are only famous for genocide (Jasenovac), organ snatching and heroin trafficking - so I completely understand your jealousy.
We Serbs have a glorious history, of defiance, freedom, independence, and are not subservient slaves like you, and we did NOT shamefully change our religion to that of our occupiers, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Here's to Gavrilo Princip, a hero and freedom fighter, who's shot heard around the world freed Serbia from the imperialists.
Cheers!!
(Dragan, 1 July 2015 00:04)
This would be like Arabs unveiled monument to Osama bin Laden.
(Avni, 29 June 2015 22:22)
Or like Albanians naming things after Hitler and human organ harvesters and narco terrorists and rapists, or like the Croats and the Catholic church making a saint out of
a Nazi war criminal Stepinac.
But it's not like that with Princip Gavrilo, is it? Gavrilo shot a waltz dancing glutton and an oppressor and a chronic blood-sucker of the poor.
(Me and Pancho and Emiliano Zapata, 30 June 2015 21:19)
You guys were occupied by german/austrian forces both world wars... you basically got destroyed of both world wars immidietly. What did you guys won 1995? You lost Slovenia(10 day war) Croatia and Bosnia. Later you lost Kosovo so what did you guys really win?
It is amusing how some serbs(not all) try to glorify their history like they were some great empire in 1000 years which isnt the case. So far from the truth..
Note that cetniks got completely destroyed in ww2.
(Edwin, 30 June 2015 20:38)
Serbs have lost and celebrated at losing for generations examples are 1389 ,1999 etc. (Azir, 29 June 2015 21:42)
BOTH ARE THE DATES OF THE CIVIL WARS AND IN NONE OF THOSE BATTLES SERBS WERE DEFEATED.
Serbs have a tendency of believing nonsense (Nikolle, 30 June 2015 15:46)

And i said it was according to historians croats and bosniaks did not wish to create a south slavic country. (Edwin, 30 June 2015 15:31)
AND I JUST EXPLAINED WHY.
The only land bosniaks are entitled to is the land they came from, TURKEY! (MikeC, 30 June 2015 14:52)
GENETICALLY THEY ARE SOUTH SLAVS AND IF YOU HINT ON ISLAM PLEASE MIND THAT DURING 500 YEARS WHOM YOU CALL “TURKS” ISLAMIZED ONLY 5-10% OF THE OCCUPIED PEOPLES IN EUROPE. AND IT STARTED IN 18 CENTURY ONLY.
(rote, 30 June 2015 19:31)

You're right because statues to Adem Jashari and monuments to the "heroes" of the failed Presevo uprising make so much more sense than the man who struck a blow against imperial tyranny. While you're at it, why don't you entertain me with another story of heroism and bravery among KLA freedom fighters? Or better yet, since we're on the topic of nonsense, how Albanians are the oldest inhabitants in the region?
(Duh, 30 June 2015 17:36)
Well this statue is fantastic. It's up there with the Venus de Milo and Rodin's Thinker. Great tribute to a great defender of freedom. It's annoying that a few racists on this forum have the audacity to criticize it for such spurious reasons. Still who cares about them?

Honestly i stopped reading after few sentence. What are you even talking about? You went from Austria-Hungary to LGBT....
And i said it was according to historians croats and bosniaks did not wish to create a south slavic country.
MikeC
Bosniaks are descendents from bosnjani people in bosnian kingdom ruled by bosnian kings. Just beacuse they converted to other religion dont make them turks. Note that catholics and orthodoxs did not support their faith of bosnian church(independent bosnian catholic church) and strongly opposed them. Ottoman Empire first enemy was catholics and what should bosnjani people do? Catholic church and Orthodox church dispised the independent bosnian catholic church so people converted to Islam. You should also note that serbs gave their children to the turks for a better future which is honorable.
You know that serbs helped Ottomans in conquest of the balkans right? Serbia was a turkish vassals. They also helped in invading Konstatinopel, they helped turks defeat the hungarians which turks were about to lose but in the end of the a battle serbs came and helped turks to a victory.
Now thats a fact and widely known amongst historians.
Now if you talk about genetics you should know according to Oxford Studies croats and bosniaks have 1-2% anatolian(turkish) genes while serbs had 8%....
(Edwin, 30 June 2015 15:31)
The only land bosniaks are entitled to is the land they came from, TURKEY! Everyone should have the right to their freedom and their land in the Balkans exept the serbs. As soon as they fight for their fredom and their rights they are terrorists while you innocent turks, albs and croats are innocent freedomfighters fighting the big bad wolf Serbia.
(MikeC, 30 June 2015 14:52)
Albanians are honoring Thaci, Haradinaj and other warcriminals. Princip didn't go to Austria to kill Ferdinand but stod up for his people and country. If Princip would be albanian, croat or bosnjak he would be considered a hero for standing up to a imperialist occupier. But because he is a serb he is responsible for WW1, WW2 and WW3. Austria wanted an excuse to attack Serbia. If Princip didn't kill Ferdinand they would use another excuse to attack Serbia. You don't have to take my Word for it. Its all over the internet.
(Tom Tom, 30 June 2015 14:43)

(Bam Bam, 30 June 2015 10:11)
Are all Ustashe as stupid as you or do you have a particular mental problem? Princip's actions had nothing to do with German plans of violating Belgium's neutrality, trench warfare in France, advances in Russia, indiscriminate bombing of ships, or the Armenian Genocide. The only thing you accomplish everytime you come here is remind us how unbelievably dumb you are. It's one thing to have a gripe against Serbs. It's another to have such a hatred you sound like completely idiot in the process.
And this all coming from someone who gets a hard on for the NDH and glorifies the deaths at Jasenovac. @$$hole.
(Dum Dum, 30 June 2015 14:39)
Then when kingdom of Yugoslavia started bosniaks lost all their land and their rights. Its obvious that they had it better in Austria-Hungary. Croats had more power in Austria-Hungary aswell.
(Edwin, 30 June 2015 12:04)
One cannot enter the same river twice so please stop talking about Austria-Hungary. They had very big ethnical problems as the Germans made some 20% only while all others including the Hungarians were less loyal to the state. But the biggest problem were the Slavs who made more than 50% and this is why Russian people in the west of Ukraine were massacred in the concentration camps. It was as bad as during Hitler. Of course the Germans needed temporary allies among the Slavs so they were a bit more loyal to the Czechs , Croats and the Bosniaks. But it could not last long. Now make a shorter excursion to the past and tell me what the Bosniaks obtained after they helped destroy Yugoslavia? Also say what nation on the Balkans started to live better last 25 years ? None of them and we all know it. Instead peace&prosperity you all got LGBT and poverty, democracy fairy tales and unemployment. There are a couple of nations that sill try to fight for themselves thus helping the other Balkan peoples as well. They are Serbs, Greeks and partly the Moldovans and the Hungarians. All others are already slaves with their small American leaders who have already joined NATO and Eurozone.
(rote, 30 June 2015 12:47)
You guys talking like Mlada Bosna was multicultural which it wasnt. It was few bosniaks who supported a south slavic country then there were majority of serbs who wanted a bigger Serbia. Black Hand was a serb group seeking to expand Serbia and make it better for serbian people. It had nothing to do with croats or bosniaks.
Now to those said Gavrilo did it to unite South Slavs. According to many historians croats and bosniaks were happy in Austria-Hungary and they did not wish for a South Slavic country, only serbs did so they said but the inention were clear what they really wanted.
Bosniaks had rights to call themselves bosniaks, they had monuments build by austrians as salute and bosniaks had right to own their land. Then when kingdom of Yugoslavia started bosniaks lost all their land and their rights. Its obvious that they had it better in Austria-Hungary. Croats had more power in Austria-Hungary aswell.

Not so sure if I agree with a monument of Gavrilo Princip other than in historical context. Of course he was not responsible for 25 Mil death's, Austo-Hungary was waiting for the right reason to annniliate Serbia and found it. Gavrilo Princip was not the only assassin, there were eight other's including Bosnian Muslims who were recruited and trained by the Black Hand by APIS (Dragutin Dimitrejevic) and Tankosic who were senior officers in the Serbian army and also responsible for the brutal slaying of King Alexander Obrenovic and Queen Draga.
Barbarism? What was barbaric was General Poitorik and the Austro-Hungarian army invasion of Serbia in WWI and the mass attrocities committed against Serbian Civilains. What was heroic was the great Serbian military staff led by Field Marshal Putnik, General Stepanovic, Misic and Vujonic who defeatted Austro-Hungary, an enemy 10 times the size of Serbia. Two years later, the Germans, Austro-Hungarians and Bulgarians launched a mass offensive and the Serbian Army could not hold along wth the onslaught of Typhus. The Serbian Army and many civilians managed to retreat through the Albanian mountains eventually ending up in the island of Corfu (Kerkira)losing most of its manpower. However, they becaming a fighting force again in the Salonika front and led the counter attack against the Bulgarian and German army units eventually liberating Belgrade.

The accomplishment of killing 25.000.000 people with a small 19th century handgun is impressive to say the least. If I had a gun like that I'd buy a first class ticket on the donkeyexpress and head for Kosovo and then Albania.

Terrorists kill innocent people, Princip killed a foreign occupier. He was an assassin but that doesn't make him a terrorist. He was a hero to me and to many other Serbs because he was a symbol of resistance from the foreign occupier. This statue is long overdue.

Why would the state of Serbia want to get involved with nonsense like this is beyond comprehension. A hero to one nation a terrorist to another. We all know the history and each nation knows its short comings but why rub it in the face of Austrians and Germans. After all it is Serbia which desperately needs the help of EU... well good luck in that regards.

Those two backward looking political hacks are the appropriate ones to speak about this ridiculous monument. It sure is better than talking about the current problems in the economy and society that they helped cause.
(Josip, 29 June 2015 14:13)
As always Serbs are described as barbarians and war criminals and the good example was the serbian terrorist Gavrilo Princip with his assasination of Archiduke Franz Ferdinand which makes the ww1 to start.
(THE BLOODY ALBOS, 29 June 2015 13:35)
It’s a big question who harmed Serbia more Gavrilo Princip or Adolf Hitler. They meant different things but the results were similar. WWII was just part 2 of the WWI as we all know as well as that both wars would definitely start in any case. But WWI could quite start somewhere else with not such terrible sequences for Serbia. And things could run different in WWII as well if the Russian Empire were not destroyed in 1917. So I think that Gavrilo Princip is at least second big tragic man in the Serbian history. With one revolver he destroyed several Empires – the Russian, the two German ones and the Ottomans and later the British and the French ones. I think that the USA is the best place for his monument because they were the only winners in both of the wars.

Let's unveil a monument to a man responsible for the death of 25,000,000 people. Serbs continue to raise monuments for individuals with blood on their hands.
(Bam Bam, 29 June 2015 14:38)
Why would the state of Serbia want to get involved with nonsense like this is beyond comprehension. A hero to one nation a terrorist to another. We all know the history and each nation knows its short comings but why rub it in the face of Austrians and Germans. After all it is Serbia which desperately needs the help of EU... well good luck in that regards.

"...monument to a man responsible for the death of 25,000,000 people."

Some comments are stupid and dumb. The black hand had Serbia's, Bosnians ( Muslim's), Croatian's, Macedonian's in it ,that dream of evicting Austrians and Hungarians and forming their own country which they did and ruined with time.Every nation's hero's are someone else's terrorist.

@$$hole.

It is amusing how some serbs(not all) try to glorify their history like they were some great empire in 1000 years which isnt the case. So far from the truth..

Gavrilo Princip was resisting against an occupier and wanted to liberate his homeland. Kosovo Albanians were not occupied. They wanted to take something which wasn't theirs to take. To secede from a country is very different from trying to rid yourself of an occupier.

...and the first person to reply to me proves my point totally.
Cheers!!

(rote, 30 June 2015 19:31)
RighteousBilly
" It is widely known that before the Turks' arrival there were no Orthodox in Bosnia , it is a closed chapter for us " Mihailo Dinic a SERB historian
"There is no evidence that there existed a single Orthodox Church in Bosnia before the Ottoman occupation of the country " Vladimir Corovic another serb historian.
(Edwin, 4 July 2015 14:41)
Doesn't this recognition of an Internationaly know Serb Terrorist show everyone Serbs true character?
(Azir, 29 June 2015 21:42)
Since when is someone who kills an occupier and dictator a terrorist? He is one of the greatest heroes in the history of sfrj with streets called after him in every single city. We serbs don't celebrate occupiers like you albs and croats celebrated the nazis, we celebrate those who kill them. And yes this shows our true character, we celebrate BRAVE people not spineless cowards.
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:17)
It's like saying Hitler wasn't responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews because he personally never turned on the gas. (Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:20)
This is unbelievable! Princip is being commemorated as a hero for being responsible for millions of deaths and ending four empires! This is why I wipe my unmentionable with the Serbian flag!
(Thomas Reich, 3 July 2015 00:14)
Gavrilo Princip, a serb and yugoslav hero with streets and squares named after him allowed sfrj. Neka ti je vecna slavs i hvala!

(RighteousBilly, 2 July 2015 07:18)

Gavrilo Pricip and the black hand gang was a freedom fighter, in a similar way Thaci and the glorious KLA was.
(Comm. Parrisson, 1 July 2015 10:28)

Do you think before you write?
Gavrilo Princip was resisting against an occupier and wanted to liberate his homeland. Kosovo Albanians were not occupied. They wanted to take something which wasn't theirs to take. To secede from a country is very different from trying to rid yourself of an occupier.
(Peggy, 1 July 2015 14:50)
...and the first person to reply to me proves my point totally.
You guys were occupied by german/austrian forces both world wars... you basically got destroyed of both world wars immidietly. What did you guys won 1995? You lost Slovenia(10 day war) Croatia and Bosnia. Later you lost Kosovo so what did you guys really win?
It is amusing how some serbs(not all) try to glorify their history like they were some great empire in 1000 years which isnt the case. So far from the truth..
Note that cetniks got completely destroyed in ww2.
(Edwin, 30 June 2015 20:38)
Princip is a terrorist thug that caused mass misery for the people in Europe at that time. Can you Serbs please honor someone who has never fired a shot at a human being or thrown them in large pits.
(Bam Bam, 30 June 2015 10:11)
Really pathetic. Another attempt to portray the heavenly people as resistors to foreign empires. Not surprised in the least however, Serbs have a tendency of believing nonsense
(Nikolle, 30 June 2015 15:46)
You're right because statues to Adem Jashari and monuments to the "heroes" of the failed Presevo uprising make so much more sense than the man who struck a blow against imperial tyranny. While you're at it, why don't you entertain me with another story of heroism and bravery among KLA freedom fighters? Or better yet, since we're on the topic of nonsense, how Albanians are the oldest inhabitants in the region?
(Duh, 30 June 2015 17:36)
(Konstantin Gregovic, 29 June 2015 21:30)

Of course to an albanian its pathetic to put up a statue of someone who killed a tyrant.
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 21:52)
Serbs have lost and celebrated at losing for generations examples are 1389 ,1999 etc. (Azir, 29 June 2015 21:42)
BOTH ARE THE DATES OF THE CIVIL WARS AND IN NONE OF THOSE BATTLES SERBS WERE DEFEATED.
Serbs have a tendency of believing nonsense (Nikolle, 30 June 2015 15:46)
ALL OF US ARE PRISONERS OF OUR IMAGINATION NOT ONLY SERBS.
Some comments are stupid and dumb. The black hand had Serbia's, Bosnians ( Muslim's), Croatian's, Macedonian's in it ,that dream of evicting Austrians and Hungarians and forming their own country which they did and ruined with time.Every nation's hero's are someone else's terrorist.
(sasa.p, 29 June 2015 20:42)
This is unbelievable! Princip is being commemorated as a hero for being responsible for millions of deaths and ending four empires! This is why I wipe my unmentionable with the Serbian flag!
(Thomas Reich, 3 July 2015 00:14)
Gavrilo Princip, a serb and yugoslav hero with streets and squares named after him allowed sfrj. Neka ti je vecna slavs i hvala!
(Daniel, 2 July 2015 18:14)

Well this statue is fantastic. It's up there with the Venus de Milo and Rodin's Thinker. Great tribute to a great defender of freedom. It's annoying that a few racists on this forum have the audacity to criticize it for such spurious reasons. Still who cares about them?
(Art Critic, 30 June 2015 15:54)
(RighteousBilly, 2 July 2015 07:18)
Edwin, you speak about Bosnjani? Early medieval sources mention only Serbs and Croats and their lands. By Constantine and Einhard its Serbs that settle Dalmatia(Bosnia). No one even mentiones Bosnjani. Bosnia in the beginning was just a geographical term. Serbs who lived converted themselves into muslims. That treachery causes themproblems even nowdays.
(RighteousBilly, 1 July 2015 10:25)
