A ruling Democratic Party (DS) MP was assaulted in Belgrade last night and is currently being held in hospital for "medical observation". Biljana Hasanovic-Korac received blows to her head from a blunt object, and also had her purse stolen at around midnight last night in central Belgrade. Democrat MP assaulted, mugged An Emergency Center spokeswoman said that according to their information, the perpetrator was caught "by a citizen who intervened". Hasanovic-Korac is expected to be released from the hospital during the day. Serbian police (MUP) have in the meantime announced that they have a suspect in custody, and that he was arrested by policemen who were helped by citizens.
