War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says that the arrest of Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic is the aim that supersedes all other activities. Certain individuals are clearly hiding the fugitives and it’s up to us to uncover them, Vukcevic told daily Blic, which writes that the prosecutor recently received a new threat from Illinois. He said that the security services in Serbia and the FBI were doing their best and that “things are under control.” "Arrest of fugitives is chief priority" Following Milorad Ulemek’s recent refusal to testify in the Bitiqi brothers murder trial, he said that “Ulemek knows who killed the Bitiqi brothers.” Asked whether he expected the international forces in Kosovo to apprehend members of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) Gnjilane Group, he replied that the prosecution was waiting for the investigation to be wrapped up before communicating with their colleagues in Kosovo. Vukcevic said that he expected EULEX’s new energy to have a positive impact on reviving war crimes proceedings that have been gathering dust for years. The prosecutor said that there would be new proceedings launched next year over war crimes in Kosovo, stating that the Tribunal had “two cases that were acquiring a final character.” He said that the human organ trafficking report, due to be submitted to the Council of Europe, contained the names of 134 first-hand and second-hand witnesses, and that the Prosecution had information as to where the executed Serbs and non-Albanians were buried. According to Vukcevic, there were indicators that Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha was also mixed up in organ trafficking, though it was unclear to what extent. There were a number of bank accounts linked to his name, as well as houses where KLA leaders were staying at the time the camps for Serbs and non-Albanians in northern Albania were being formed, the prosecutor told Blic.
