Russian official thinks Serbia's EU bid is destined to fail
Serbia will have a good government - but the conditions set before it will be such that the country will never join the EU, says Dmitry Rogozin.

Speaking about the inauguration, Rogozin said it was important that "all Balkan leaders came to Belgrade on this occasion - it emphasized Serbia's role as the biggest and most authoritative state in the region, on which much depends."
He also commented on the positions held by US officials who are opposed to Russia's influence in the Balkans, especially US State Department official Hoyt Brian Yee, who also attended the inauguration, and who in May described that influence as "malign."
"I have absolutely no interest in what somebody over there is saying. You see, if I listened to everyone saying some nonsense, I wouldn't sleep well. So I don't," Rogozin said, and added that this was the first time he heard about Yee, and dismissed his statements were "nonsense."
In the context of the narrative about Russia losing in the Balkans, Rogozin commented on statements made by US Senator John McCain - who he said "went crazy a long time ago." Rogozin remarked that he in the past met with McCain and knows him - "I told him everything I think back then and since then, it makes no sense to comment on anything."
As for Russia "missing the opportunity to halt NATO's influence in the Balkans," this member of the Russian government said he thinks Montenegro is to Serbia what Ukraine is to Russia, and that Montenegro's NATO membership was essentially directed against Serbia rather than Russia - "more precisely, a conflict has been caused between brothers and sisters."
He accused the Americans of "sowing the seeds of hostility" because they need to have wars - as wars are profitable.
Asked "what kind of government he expects from Serbia" Rogozin replied, "you will have a good government, but the conditions will be such that Serbia will never join the EU."
"First of all, how could they accept you to where others are fleeing from. They have a scandal over there. The English are leaving, while they're convincing you to go to the EU. They don't like it, but they want you to like it. That's not done. Something's wrong there. As they say, 'God gave you what I don't want for myself'," Rogozin remarked, and added:
"When it comes to conditions for Serbia's accession to the EU, you will have to renounce Kosovo. You will never do that. Not the most pro-Western Serb will ever betray their fatherland. One can discuss the economy, the exchange rate, taxes, but that (Kosovo) is a question of treason. And without renouncing Kosovo, the Serbs will not be admitted to the EU."
According to him, the accession process will be long, as in the case of Turkey. Alternatively, Serbia will be broken up, "and then the pieces will be admitted one by one."
Rogozin is convinced that "a game" to draw Serbia closer in currently ongoing between the EU and Russia. But, he then continued, "there's really no game" - because Russia and Serbia "will always be together, while it's important to Serbia to have good relations with European states."
"Serbia can have them without joining that spa," he concluded.
Rogozin also announced that Russian MiG-29s would soon be delivered to Serbia, and advised the reporter to hear from the Serbian president when exactly this might happen.
"I would tell you, but we agreed he should. It's not just the MiGs, but many other things... tanks, transport planes. This is serious and large assistance," he has been quoted as saying.
Rogozin then spoke about the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center, to say that it was established (in 2012) in order to avoid transporting personnel and equipment from Russia each time there was a need to fight fires, and instead do this from Serbia. Another reason was the need to create a demining center in the wake of the wars in the Balkans.
The Russian government official revealed that he "does not understand why the US is so afraid of this humanitarian center" which he said was staffed with "several Russians, cats, and dogs."
"There's two cats there and several dogs whose loud bark is heard all the way to Kosovo. In addition, four members of the civil service who are about to retire represent an incredible threat to America's state security. We didn't need the Center in this format, we thought they needed it because of the constant (wild)fires, and then they run to us and plead for help. And now they're saying it's terrible that a dog is barking. Idiotic," Rogozin said.
As for the Center's status - "it has been said that a decision will be made and we await it," he remarked.
Speaking about the possibility of building an air defense and anti-missile defense shield in Serbia, Rogozin observed that such a thing would "kick up a mighty dust."
"If they fear three dogs, imagine what would happen, pardon the expression, they would soil themselves - why bring them to that state. We'll be doing everything in our own territory," Rogozin said.
He concluded the interview by saying that Russia "cannot be spoken to with the help of sanctions" and that it was clear to him that, in the West, the Serbs are seen as "the Balkan Russians."
"And there's no way you can change that. No matter how much you try to get them to like you, they will never like you. One needs to be who one is, respect one's ancestors, one's Orthodox faith, hold one's own truth. The world only respects people like that, trust me - as Serbs and as Russians," said Rogozin.
I will write this for young people reading these news not have any confusions about EU. EU is a political creation of a countries which have aligned their general political goals. Everyone gets something. For example, Romania got investments and freedom to work and travel more, Western EU got the access to the land for NATO bases close to Russian border. Membership in EU does not have anything to do with civilization, culture etc. like some people write here. It is a political creation, not the brotherhood of nations. EU countries each are very nationalistic. I had to leave Serbia to learn what being a nationalist really means. Someone signed here as "Proud EU citizen". Should I comment this? And although the world is getting maybe better, racism and fascism are totally normal and legitimate in EU. So average Dutch for example thinks his life worth's more then Bulgarian. Of course, nothing is black and white. Should Serbia join - yes. But that will happen when political goals align. Serbia is already more then "developed and civilized" to join. It was probably even decades ago, especially before the wars...
(Zorana, 28 June 2017 12:49)
Hey, Rogozin. Who asked about your opinion? Leave that kind of speech for those you can easily bully. And keep your bloody hands off Serbia.

"The Russian mafia/state is playing us as always - pretending to be our protectors while undermining our progress and adding more corruption to our already corrupt system."
Couldn't have said it better myself. Also, you guys are hating on the EU... I get it. You want your sovereignty. But look at Bulgaria and Romania. 10 years ago they will similar to Serbia. Now they are much richer, with more investments, better quality of life, faster growth, better infrastructure (look at the brand new metros in Sofia and Bucharest).
It sucks that the EU is letting Muslims in. I want a European Union, not a Eurabian Union. But at the end of the day, EU = better life for Balkan countries. Isn't this what matters most?

Trying to explain to people like you why Serbia is important to the EU is like talking to chimpanzees. Its pointless since its well beyond your capacity to understand, but watch as another 2 chapters are opened before the end of this year.

Serbia can open all the chapters it wants, it will be for not. The EU is making Serbia jump through hoops just like a circus animal. There are a few certain conditions Serbia must fulfill, and you know what they are, I needn't tell you again. I understand these conditions are a sore spot for you chetniks, but if you are to be welcomed into the European family of civilized nations you must conform. Oh yes and another issue, it would allow Serbs to fit in much better if you all had your tails amputated at birth.
Here in the UK, many of us are celebrating Brexit, it has started after decades of waiting. Join in on the party, this is just the beginning.

"... he thinks Montenegro is to Serbia what Ukraine is to Russia"
That was a bad comparison. Croatia is to Serbia what Ukraine is to Russia. Both Croatia and Ukraine were allies and collaborators to Nazi Germany in WW2 and in post-Yugoslavia/post-Soviet Union started to kill their Serb/Russian minorities in the Krajina/Donbass. The Minsk agreement is the new Z-4 plan. If Russia was still as weak as in the 1990s we would have had today a genocide in the Donbass, like we had it 1995 in the Srpska Krajina. And in both cases Germany and the US were supplying arms, money and political propaganda in support for the former Nazi puppet regimes and new US/German vassals.
(Tito, 26 June 2017 15:13)
Rogozin pretty much hits the nail on the head. The only thing is, the EU may be more flexible regarding Serbia's application just to despise Russia.
Russian influence is on the increase and the risk for the EU (and NATO) is that the people are against membership regardless of the political will. This will cause serious issues that I'm sure Russia will exploit when the time comes.
It is going to be fun watching the EU and NATO crumble.
(Zoran, 26 June 2017 14:30)
"(...) he thinks Montenegro is to Serbia what Ukraine is to Russia"
UTTER GARBAGE. Serbia doesn't think there is no such thing as Montenegro. Serbia never invaded Montenegro, stole a piece of it's land, and sent arms and the army to cause discord and keep Montenegro in constant war.
I Wish that was true, but sadly its not. The EU will accept all of Serbia’s demands without even asking Serbia to recognise Kosovo. The EU will bypass this issue by letting Serbia into the EU and then later Kosovo.
The theory being once all these countries are in borders matter little or who recognises whom or what. They become on big family. Well that is the Brussels’ theory anyway.
They cant afford to leave Serbia out.
(sj, 26 June 2017 13:43)
Are there really still Serbs who think Germany is a friend of Serbia? Germany will always be an enemy of Serbia, as Rogozin said because Germany does not like independent people. They like vassals like the Croats. For that reason Germany always hated Serbia and Yugoslavia. Do a google image search for an old German postcard from before WW1. Search for "Für unsere Menagerie". It will show you the eternal dream of Germany. Capturing Russia and getting Serbia (the guy below the bear) as well. Or conquer Serbia first and then Russia like in 1941. The same happens now since 1991 again, but in slow motion, since it can't do it with tanks anymore so it resorts to slower/softer economic and monetary war, i.e. the German European Union, the Fourth Reich.

(Tito, 26 June 2017 13:39)
Rogozin pretty much hits the nail on the head. The only thing is, the EU may be more flexible regarding Serbia's application just to despise Russia.
Russian influence is on the increase and the risk for the EU (and NATO) is that the people are against membership regardless of the political will. This will cause serious issues that I'm sure Russia will exploit when the time comes.
It is going to be fun watching the EU and NATO crumble.
(Zoran, 26 June 2017 14:30)
"... he thinks Montenegro is to Serbia what Ukraine is to Russia"
Said well but nothing that we don't already know. I personally don't believe that we will enter the EU and I don't believe that it's our goal anyways. Once BREXIT is fully complete, the other dominoes will start to fall. Eventually the EU will be France, Brussels and Germany only. Question is, who will be the first country to exit out of NATO?

Despite your frustration, the EU seems to be doing just fine without Serbia. What has Serbia to offer the EU, raspberries? Ha, ha, ha!!!
It is rather pathetic you're so furious no one pays Serbia any respect.
(Proud EU Citizen, 27 June 2017 09:16)
"I would tell you, but we agreed he should. It's not just the MiGs, but many other things... tanks, transport planes. This is serious and large assistance," he has been quoted as saying.
Look to the East Serbia...Look to the East....Save yourselves.

Trying to explain to people like you why Serbia is important to the EU is like talking to chimpanzees. Its pointless since its well beyond your capacity to understand, but watch as another 2 chapters are opened before the end of this year.

Here in the UK, many of us are celebrating Brexit, it has started after decades of waiting. Join in on the party, this is just the beginning.
(William UK, 27 June 2017 10:34)
Serbia doesn't need crappy EU to dictate over them. It will fail. EU will exploit Serbia to the utmost. Take all their fruit, all their water, all their animals, all their crops and land. and give it away to 3rd world people.
Already looking what they are trying to do to Poland Hungary and Slovakia. They are waving their ugly finger at them saying if you don't do like we say you will get it.
(smashthetrolls, 26 June 2017 19:17)
Just over half the population in UK is celebrating brexit on false promises, not e everybody is celebrating mate and more and more people are changing their minds.

"all Balkan leaders came to Belgrade on this occasion - it emphasized Serbia's role as the biggest and most authoritative state in the region, on which much depends."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH APRIL FOOLS HAS PASSED.
Firstly, that is a joke. I mean if you seriously believe this is how important Serbia is, I feel for you. Secondly, not every Balkan leader came.
(LOL, 27 June 2017 05:44)
Hey, Rogozin. Who asked about your opinion? Leave that kind of speech for those you can easily bully. And keep your bloody hands off Serbia.
(Belgrader, 28 June 2017 09:37)
Mendo, icj1 wanted to know when the celebrations started so I was just letting him/her know they already have. Brexit is on its way so who cares if some have changed their mind.
(William UK, 27 June 2017 15:00)
Who is that gorgeous man in drag in the above photo, wearing the white gown, and having his hand licked by the fat Russian.
(Gay Serb, 28 June 2017 06:16)
Serbia EU bid will fail, South Stream will come very very very soon. Make Russia Great Again.
Serbia will enter EU. Maybe without formal recognition of Kosovo but entering EU without Kosovo practically is a recognition. And now that Macron won in France maybe it will come sooner. Till now it seems that US and EU are in perfect harmony regarding Balkans despite their "conflicts" and very active. Yee and Hahn seem to be frequent "visitors" in the region these days.

sj,
Serbia can open all the chapters it wants, it will be for not.

That's great and yes I'll join the party as well as soon as the NHS starts to receive an additional £350 million a week. Or did that happen already?

I read this and had to stop:
"it emphasized Serbia's role as the biggest and most authoritative state in the region, on which much depends."
LOL! Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, even Croatia, all much more important.
