Pristina media report, quoting KLA veterans' groups, that 11 ex-KLA members have left Presevo and moved to Gnjilane after the arrest of 10 Presevo Albanians . The KosovoLive agency reports that the former Kosovo Liberation Army members that arrived in Gniljane have asked the Kosovo institutions for their status to be resolved, “so as not to be left at the mercy and mercilessness of the weather conditions.” Former KLA members flee Presevo Ahmet Daku, the chairman of an association of former KLA members from Gnjilane, told the agency that after the arrest of 10 of their colleagues, the other 11 had asked for refuge in Gnjilane. According to Daku, other KLA members have gone to stay with friends or relatives, and have not registered with KLA veterans’ associations. He said that the arrests in Presevo had sparked unrest and anger among both citizens and Kosovo war veterans. “By making these arrests, Serbia is trying to hide its own crimes in the municipality of Gnjilane,” said Daku, adding that crimes had been committed in the villages of Zegra, Lastica, Lofce, and elsewhere. He said that “a number of those arrested in Presevo weren’t even in the KLA, which shows that the indictment was fabricated.”
