Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz says migrants should be stopped at the EU's outer borders and sent back to their countries of origin.

Kurz mentioned Egypt as an example of successfully realizing such a plan, and added that Spain and Australia have implemented similar plans.

Aid to countries of origin and a resettlement program setting up regulated immigration to Europe would be part of any such program, the agency quoted Kurz as saying.

The Austrian minister "previously suggested that some NGOs rescuing migrants on the high seas might be in collusion with human smugglers, and called late Thursday for an NGO code of conduct, without going into details" the report said.
