Beara was put on trial on Srebrenica genocide charges and found guilty by the Hague Tribunal.

Beara, who passed away on Thursday, was sentenced to life in prison.

Media in Bosnia-Herzegovina said that the verdict against him for genocide over about 8,000 Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995 committed after the VRS entered the enclave that was under UN protection at the time was confirmed in 2015.
