Joksimović said the results "fall within the normal oscillation since these surveys started in 2002."

"Of course we analyze the results every time and it can be safely said that every time the causes of increase or decrease of support were important processes taking place in the domestic or international context. It's not different this time either."

She added that "she herself was always, as a citizen, and now as minister in charge of the EU, sympathetic to the views of citizens," and that this is why "her policy will always be such that it does not fuel any great expectations or excessive skepticism and pessimism."

"On the way to the EU, with the many benefits that our citizens will certainly feel there are many challenges, because the process is sensitive to developments in the wider international context," Joksimović said.

She added: "We are now Euro-realists, convinced that what we are doing as a government is charting the way for a more regulated and efficient state, and membership in the EU will come as a result of the many years of such hard work of the whole society."

"It is because of this understanding that exists among the citizens, and that is reflected in the strong support for the government on the reform path, that there are fewer of those who are opposed to EU membership," the minister went on to say..

"For example, people are very interested in an efficient judiciary, because it often concerns the protection of their fundamental rights. Hence, they understand how important it is to implement judicial reforms and if this demanding chapter is translated into faster and better functioning of the courts, it would then mean a concrete profit in the quality of life of citizens," Joksimović was quoted as saying.
