Local Serbs spent the Tuesday night at the barricades near the Jarinje administrative crossing, while the situation across northern Kosovo was peaceful. An incident took place near the checkpoint took place on Tuesaday, leaving seven local Serbs and four KFOR members injured. Situation in northern Kosovo peaceful Serbian President Boris Tadic condemned the use of force against citizens and urged KFOR to show maximum restraint and status neutrality. The KFOR members fired at Serbs and threw tear gas and flash bombs. Seven persons with bullet wounds were admitted to the Kosovska Mitrovica Health Center. Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic stated that it was absolutely unacceptable to have KFOR shoot at unarmed people and that the incident near Jarinje could have been avoided if KFOR had accepted the call by the Serb representatives for talks and dialogue which could have led to peaceful resolution of problems. The incidents were preceded by peaceful protests of Leposavic residents who blocked the alternative route which was the only link between Leposavic and Lesak and central Serbia. Northern Kosovo Serbs called for talks with KFOR Commander Erhard Drews so as to find a solution from the crisis and sent a message that the situation could be resolved only through a dialogue, rather than by use of force. Previously, KFOR removed the barricades on the road towards Jarinje and near its base with an explanation that it acted upon EULEX order. Following the Tuesday incident, KFOR expanded its base and increased the number of its troops. Local Serbs are seen at the Jarinje administrative checkpoint
