Serbia coordinator for Danube Strategy

At a meeting of the European Commission and the Danube basin countries in Brussels, Serbia was appointed coordinator for the Danube strategy in several fields. They include transport, knowledge economy, security and fight against organized crime, Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said on Wednesday, Beta news agency reports. Serbia coordinator for Danube Strategy As part of the strategy for the development of economy, transport, tourism and culture in 14 Danube basin countries, Serbia will coordinate transport together with Slovenia, knowledge economy with Slovakia and security and curbing organized crime with Germany. The Danube strategy, comprising 11 sectors, is due to be adopted by the EU heads of states or governments in June. European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn said EUR100 billion from the EU regional development funds have been allocated for this comprehensive program for the development of transport on and regions around one of Europe's greatest rivers.
