The Russian embassy in Belgrade on Thursday evening marked Russia Day, the national holiday of the Russian Federation. The holiday marks the day in 1990 when parliament in Moscow formally proclaimed the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, making official the breakup of the Soviet Union. President attends Russia Day reception Serbian President Boris Tadic, PM Mirko Cvetkovic, SPC Patriarch Irinej and Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac were among Serbian officials and public figures who attended the reception, hosted by Ambassador Aleksandr Konuzin. Others included party leaders such as opposition SNS and DSS presidents Tomislav Nikolic and Vojislav Kostunica. Ambassadors from other countries serving in Belgrade were also there. President attends Russia Day reception

Serbian President Boris Tadić, PM Mirko Cvetković, SPC Patriarch Irinej and Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac were among Serbian officials and public figures who attended the reception, hosted by Ambassador Aleksandr Konuzin.

Others included party leaders such as opposition SNS and DSS presidents Tomislav Nikolić and Vojislav Koštunica. Ambassadors from other countries serving in Belgrade were also there.

More Russia Day celebrations in Serbia will continue with a concert on Saturday.
