United Serbia (JS) leader Dragan Markovic says that his party will not support the adoption of the Vojvodina Statute by the state parliament. He told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik that he objected to discussing Vojvodina’s autonomy “at a time when Serbia is fighting to preserve Kosovo.” JS: No to Vojvodina statute United Serbia supports economic decentralization of Serbia, but Vojvodina has already been taken care of in that regard, because the Constitution guarantees it seven percent of the state budget, he said. Markovic said that the draft Statute was absolutely unacceptable for his party because some of its clauses gave Vojvodina some attributes of statehood. Dnevnik writes that G17 Plus and the Socialist Party of Serbia officials have yet to sign the Law on the Transfer of Jurisdictions to the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
