PM meets with Palestinian leader

BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković has met today with President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, the government has announced.

Cvetković thanked Abbas for his support to Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that there was an analogy in the ways both sides based their diplomatic activities on compliance with UN resolutions and international law, read a government statement.
Abbas brought Cvetković up to speed with the latest developments in the Middle East, stating that the Palestinians had always been open and ready for talks on reaching a solution that would bring lasting peace to the region.
The Serbian prime minister highlighted the broad possibilities for extending cooperation in the spheres of the economy, education and culture.
It was stressed at the meeting that Serbia and the Palestinian Authority continued to maintain close and good relations based on friendship dating back to former times, the statement concluded.
