The Supreme Court will hold meetings until Friday to review the appeals in the Ibarska highway murder case. The Supreme Court is expected to pass a new ruling, and Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) President Vuk Draskovic has asked the court to “judge and sentence on this occasion” those responsible for the murder of four of his party’s officials on October 3, 1999 on behalf of the families. Supreme Court reviews Ibarska appeals “The Supreme Court has so far overturned the rulings of the Belgrade District Court on two occasions. If they do so a third time, it will be another slap in the face for justice and the victims’ families, and a reward for the killers and terrorist crimes sanctioned by the Milosevic regime,” Draskovic said. The Supreme Court is reassessing the conviction of Milorad Ulemek, commander of the Special Operations Unit (JSO) at the time of the crime, who was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Another JSO member, Nenad Ilic was also sentenced to 15 years, while four others received sentences of 14 years each. Former State Security (DB) Chief Radomir Markovic was acquitted on the murder charges, and was sentenced to eight years for complicity. Former DB Chief-of-Staff Milan Radonjic and former Belgrade police chief Branko Djuric were found not guilty of helping orchestrate the murders. Four SPO officials - Veselin Boskovic, Zvonko Osmajlic, Vucko Rakocevic and Dragan Vusurovic - were killed in the orchestrated car crash on October 3, 1999, while party leader Vuk Draskovic sustained injuries.
