A tent camp housing Serb returnees in the village of Zac is now being guarded by Slovenian KFOR soldiers. This change came on Thursday evening, after the second incident involving shots from firearms against the camp was reported earlier this week. KFOR now guards Serb returnees The fully armed troops and several armored vehicles are securing the area, and there have been no incidents since their deployment. The returnees told Tanjug that Kosovo police, KPS, informed them that two ethnic Albanians have been arrested in Zac on suspicion that they opened fire near the camp, adding that one of them allegedly admitted taking part in the incident. According to the Serbs returnees, the attackers are members of the Kelmendi family, that moved in the village some two decades ago. The returnees said that they were encouraged by KFOR presence, adding that they were frightened after the second armed attack that took place on Wednesday evening. Previously, local Albanians staged protests against the returnees, whose tents were also stoned. Serbian government officials yesterday reacted strongly to the latest incidents, calling on international missions in the province to react and protect the returnees.
