GRACANICA Presidential adviser Marko Djuric was in the Serb enclave of Gracanica, in central Kosovo, on Tuesday. He denounced those calling for the boycott of the local elections scheduled for early November as "advocating something that is against the interest of the Kosovo Serbs and which undermines the survival and strengthening of the Serb community there." "Election boycott is against Kosovo Serbs' interest" "Those who want a boycott are not looking past their own interest and such a policy cannot bring any benefits," he stressed. "Serbia is here to stay, Serbia is here to make our community stronger, to get it to organize itself and adapt to survive and live in new circumstances," Djuric underscored. There will be no interruptions to the institutional ties between Serbia and the Kosovo Serbs, he noted, adding that "self-organizations, discipline, planning and perseverance could be expected in the future." "There is no secret agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on removing Kosovo's symbols from the ballots and eliminating the word Serbia from the names of candidate lists," Djuric pointed out. Serbia still expects Pristina to fulfil the agreement on election activities and can see increased pressure from the international community towards achieving that, he said. "Serbia is sticking to what has been agreed and expects the other side to do the same," he remarked. Djuric and Minister Without Portfolio in charge of Kosovo Aleksandar Vulin attended in Gracanica the distribution of humanitarian aid the Serbian government had sent to poor Serb families that had returned to Kosovo.
