The ruling Democratic Party (DS) believes that a Pride Parade discussion which is currently underway is unnecessary and counterproductive.

The ruling Democratic Party (DS) believes that a Pride Parade discussion which is currently underway is unnecessary and counterproductive. The ruling coalition parties and all institutions made their position clear last year and therefore “it today represents an imposed dilemma”, the DS pointed out, adding that in a democratic society everybody had the right to express their position and orientation without being discriminated or threatened in any way. Pride Parade discussion counterproductive, DS says “We expect that the institutions will rise to the occasion and that the parade will go peacefully, but we also expect that all those who have a different opinion will not spread hatred and cause violence,” the announcement reads. The DS believes that “it is in everybody’s interest that Serbia shows its democratic face and that everybody peacefully expresses their position without endangering any lives or property”.
