Serbian Culture Minister Nebojsa Bradic opened an exhibition of Serbian frescoes at the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels. "Serbia - A Land of Frescoes" showcases the best of Serbia's medieval Orthodox Christian monastery art, said announcements. Serbian frescoes exhibited at EP Bradic said that the pieces presented at the exhibit are not just Serbian but world cultural heritage, and added that many of them are under the protection of UNESCO, which deemed them either of great cultural importance or endangered. The minister also said that events like this were "a good way for Serbia to combat prejudice and show its true face, as a country that was and is in every way a part of Europe". Deputy head of the EP Delegation to South East Europe Victor Bostinaru agreed, saying that the fresco exhibition "should help tear down some of the prejudice surrounding Serbia". He stressed that the European project will not be complete until the entire Western Balkans, in which Serbia plays an important role, is integrated into the EU. The exhibit includes copies of frescoes from the monasteries of Manasija, Mileseva, Gradac, Studenica, Gracanica, Decani, Ravanica, Staro Nagoricane, and the Pec Patriarchate church of the Virgin of Ljevis.
