Albania’s prime minister and foreign minister have advised Albanians from south Serbia to vote at the May 11 elections. The leader of the Party for Democratic Action (PDJ) Riza Halimi, who is a Serbian MP, confirmed that during a visit to Tirana, delegations from Serbia and Albania had concurred that participation was the only legitimate way for Albanians to solve their numerous, long-standing problems. The PDJ leader said that the delegation had come to Tirana in order to express its regret following the explosion of the arms dump near Tirana, and to speak about the position of the Albanian minority in Serbia ahead of the upcoming elections. Halimi was accompanied on his trip by Presevo Municipal President and Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA) leader Ragmi Mustafa, and senior officials from the Movement for Democratic Progress (PDP) and National Movement of Albanians (NPA) Adnan Salihu and Merdzan Memishi. The four-strong delegation of south Serbian Albanians led by Halimi returned today from Tirana where they were received by Prime Minister Sali Berisha and Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha.

The PDJ leader said that the delegation had come to Tirana in order to express its regret following the explosion of the arms dump near Tirana, and to speak about the position of the Albanian minority in Serbia ahead of the upcoming elections.
