What is this? Is it the formation of greater Albania now instructing Albanians in Kosovo what to do? Tirana might as well call the shots now, because it now sees Kosovo as part of Albania.
Kosovo is Serbian land & always will be. The US was quick to set-up their military base. Was that part of the deal with the Albanians to steal Kosovo from the Serbs?

This is further evidence that Albanians whether in Albania, Serbia, or Kosovars, are people who only wish to contribute to stability of the Balkans (SEE) than rather see its' destruction.

Let's wait and see when Koshtunica comes out and preaches for Kosovar-S to participate in the Kosovar Government.

"...delegations from Serbia and Albania had concurred that participation was the only legitimate way for Albanians to solve their numerous, long-standing problems."

With some of the Serbian posters here, this is a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't."

Albania's position is perfectly normal. It "interferes" with Serb politics about as much as Greece does with Albanian politics where the Greek minority issues are concerned, etc.
In any case, what's being advocated is that issues are solved in the Serbian parliament. Some of the Serbs here need to explain to me what the problem with that position is.
After all, it's a far cry from what folks like Samardzic have been advocating in Kosovo.

The only strength measurement that some of you people advocate in here is the physical force. It today’s world and in our case there are far more significant measurements of a state strength that make up for Kosova’s comparative smaller size. In a European level it will make more sense to talk about internal legitimacy, political mobilisation and participation, a functioning democracy and institutions, human rights, and last but not least, power of bending spoons with your mind.
Metaphorically and using old Jewish, Christian and Muslim tradition this is another David and Goliath battle.

The interesting part of this inter-Albanian jigsaw would be the quick replacement of Tirana’s role as an influential factor on valley Albanians decisions' with a more assertive and firmer Prishtina. This new dynamic will give Kosova more leverage with Belgrade and probably make Prishtina the spiritual capital of all us Albanians.

Dear

Dont be too paranoic! Albania, least to say, has its interest for a stable SEE region. What it aims is an institutionalisation of democratic life in Serbia and that is, in my opinion,or should be the aim of Serbian government. SEE is so interdependent that is becoming so naive to make such comments. It is time to illuminate your rational mind and bring an end to paranoia-politics. It is time to close the chapter of self-destruction and it is time for the new one. Move on

"I agree that they should vote in the Serbian elections. But if Kostunica and his puppet Samardzic impose on the Kosovo Serbs to vote in the Serbian elections, then this shows a bit of hipocricy. If we got this route then Albanians in the valley, Montenegro, Macedonia and other places will eventually request to vote in elections in Albania which to me does not make any sense.

Let each country vote in the country they live in not based on the ethnic make up.

Good democratic advice from Albania this time, but some in Serbia are going in the opposite direction by trying to create more tensions in Kosovo.
(Benny, 2 April 2008 13:22) "

Benny,

The K-Serbs want to vote in the Serbian elections because they consider themselves to be citizens of Serbia. No need for Kostunica to impose anything on them -- I assure you the K-Serbs will vote most willingly.

It seems strange that the Valley Albanians need Tirana's permission to vote. At least that was the sense I got from this article.

Excuse me, but why is the Tirana goverment asking the Albanians from South of Serbia to vote? Isn't this kind out of their country? And aren't this Albanians citizens of Serbia in the first place?

Haven't heard the Serbian govement asking Serbs is Albania to vote in the Albanian elections...Must be because there are no Serbs there...

I would strongly advice Albania to take care of their own elections and leave Serbia with ours...

Nice set of double standards on display here.

Have a question for these people. Do you consider yourselves to be part of Serbia or don't you? If yes, then vote by all means. But if no, then why even consider it?

Not that it makes a lot of difference one way or the other. According to the last census, there are not that many of them.

Kosovo Serbs should learn from Serbia Albanians. Participation in politics is the only way to solve problems.

Also Kosovo Serb MPs are not booed by their colleuges of the majority ethnicity when they speak in parliament. So we should all commend Mr. Halimis bravery.

Or it could be that Valley Albanians went for the instructions regarding some other aims???? I have no problems that Serbian Albanians have cooperation and ties with Tirana but making decisions in Tirana about taking or not taking part in the Serbian elections is direct meddling in other country affairs. Are V-Albanians so incapable of bringing decision on their own?

Serbian officials must warn V-Albanians on their actions.
