The Association of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) claims that police are making a list of abandoned homes in Vojvodina. The party is dissatisfied with the response it has received from the Interior Minister Dragan Jocic regarding the issue. Police counting abandoned homes in Vojvodina SVM MP Balint Pastor said that Hungarians in Vojvodina were "afraid because the list drawn up by the police of abandond homes had been made up of homes primarily located in communities inhabited by Hungarians." “Our community is very afraid that the state is preparing to implement the Readmission Agreement, on the basis of which it expects a return of many Serb citizens living illegally abroad,” Pastor told daily Gradjanski List. He said that the SVM was not satisfied with the answers it had received from Jocic, who said that he was not aware of any such steps being taken in Vojvodina. Pastor said that information regarding the count of empty houses had been confirmed by several police stations throughout Vojvodina municipalities. Pastor reiterated that Article 78 of the Constitution stated that it was forbidden to take measures in order to change the ethnic or national make-up of a community where minority members had traditionally lived in greater numbers.
