IMF upgrades forecast for Serbia's growth to 1.8 percent

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised this year's forecast for Serbia's economic growth by 0.05 percentage points to 1.8 percent.

IMF upgrades forecast for Serbia's growth to 1.8 percent

According to Tanjug's reporter in Washington, the IMF published its latest World Economic Outlook.

According to the IMF data from this document, Serbia is expected to post an economic growth of 2.3 percent in 2017.

The forecasts coincide with the recently published forecasts of the World Bank.

The estimate is that the balance of payments deficit will this year stand at 4.4 percent, and 4.3 percent of GDP in 2017, compared with 4.8 percent of GDP in 2015.

By 2021, the IMF expects the balance of payments deficit to drop below the level of 4 percent of GDP.

As for the jobless rate, the IMF expectation is that from 18.5 percent in 2015 it will reach 18.7 percent in 2016, and 18.9 percent in 2017.
