"I also have no intention of going there in this atmosphere, and I was ready to go. This is no longer about honoring the victims, this is a political fight what is setting Bosnia-Herzegovina back to the state of war, and I don't wish to participate in that," Ivanic said.

According to the Banja Luka daily Glas Srpske, he added that he had "warned ambassadors of key countries that those who draft the Srebrenica resolution will be responsible for the consequences."

"A number of countries got out and did not participate. Great Britain stayed in, and we have a much worse situation today than before," Ivanic, who heads an opposition party in the Serb entity, RS, stated.

RS Prime Minister Željka Cvijanovic was quoted as saying that "instead of resolutions and politicization what is more needed is to create conditions for a better life in these areas." She added that a delegation of the RS government would this year once again attend the commemorative gathering in Srebrenica, "expressing the respect of the RS toward the victims."

President of the municipal board of the SDP party in Srebtrenica Hakija Meholjic was quoted as saying on Friday that each year ahead of the July 11 anniversary, "the international community" was causing "collective madness" in the town.
