Poll: Distrust reigns among Macedonians, Albanians

The majority of Macedonians believe that there is lack of trust between themselves and the Albanians, according to an opinion poll conducted in Skopje. According to the poll carried out by the Institute for Political and Inter-Cultural Studies and presented at a press conference yesterday, 56 percent of respondents believe that there is no trust between Macedonians and Albanians, while 22 percent believe that trust does exist. As far as Macedonia-NATO relations are concerned, 45 percent blamed Greece for Macedonia’s failure to join NATO. Asked whether the Ohrid Agreement brought stability to Macedonia, 43 percent said it did, compared to 40 percent who disagreed.
