The Fifth Annual South-East European Regional Economic Forum kicks off in Ohrid today. The focus of the conference will be streamlining the Euro-Atlantic integration process of countries in the region. S-E Europe Economic Forum under way The forum will be attended by regional officials, European Commission representatives, as well as leaders from regional business, banking and business associations. It will be hosted by Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski. Among those expected to attend are Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Montenegro’s Filip Vujanovic, Bulgaria’s Georgi Parvanov, Albanian President Bamir Topi, Bosnia-Herzegovina Council of Ministers Chairman Nebojsa Radmanovic and Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate for Enlargement Jan Truszczynski. The two-day forum will feature three Round Table discussions: “The Impact of the Credit Crisis on the Finances and Economies of South-East European Countries,” “Regional Infrastructure”, and “Energy Markets in South-East European Countries.” There will also be a report presented on the competitiveness of countries in the region. The goal of the regional economic forum is to streamline the process of European integration for South-East European countries from a macro-economic and political point of view, creating a climate for establishing business contacts between businessmen in the region, and increasing trade. The forum is a non-governmental initiative with the goal of bringing together business and academic experts from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania.

The forum will be attended by regional officials, European Commission representatives, as well as leaders from regional business, banking and business associations. It will be hosted by Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski.
