"Format of UNSC sessions on Kosovo to be maintained"

In a statement to Tanjug, Dacic said that during the meeting, they also discussed international organizations, especially the United Nations Security Council, which Italy will chair next month.

Dacic "stressed that this issue is very important for our country, because an unprincipled attempt is being made to change the format of the UN Security Council sessions on Kosovo and Metohija."

According to him, it is important for Serbia that all the problems that exist in its southern province, while Resolution 1244 and the UN Mission in Kosovo are in place, is regularly discussed at the Security Council sessions, and as foreseen by that resolution.

"Some Western countries are trying to change the format of holding these sessions, so that only closed sessions within the Security Council are held, or that they not be every three months. That is why it is extremely important for us to have an understanding of Italy as the chair," he said.

Dacic this week participated in the OSCE Mediterranean Conference in Palermo, Italy, whose main topics were the migrant and refugee flows across the Mediterranean and the security challenges they face.
