Russian ambassador unhappy with "campaign of lies of NGOs"

"The two officials underlined that even 17 years after the bombing, grave consequences of the aggression are still visible, which led to numerous casualties, caused extensive material damage, as well as drastic consequences to peace and stability in the region," a statement said.

Vucic and Chepurin also "exchanged opinions" regarding the guilty verdict passed last week by the Hague Tribunal in the war crimes trial of Radovan Karadzic.

They "expressed the conviction that that verdict must not be used to try and impose collective guilt on one nation, nor to challenge the status and jurisdictions of Republika Srpska (Serb Republic, RS) stemming from the Dayton Accords."

They also "discussed the issue of the military neutrality of Serbia as an important factor that contributes to boosting security and stability in the Balkans, but in entire Europe too."

In addition, the Russian ambassador "expressed his dissatisfaction over the campaign of lies by representatives of certain NGOs against the role of Russia in the Second World War."

At the same time, he "thanked Serbia’s leadership on commitment to preserving the ideals of the fight against fascism and of historical truth."
