26 Serbian citizens fought in Syria - 7 returned, 8 died

26 Serbian citizens have been involved in conflicts on the Syrian front, members of Serbia's national assembly were told Wednesday during a debate.

According to Tanjug, "nearly all political groups pledged to support it."

Ruling SPS deputy Aleksandra Djurovic said that 26 Serbian citizens have so far taken part in the Syrian conflict, seven of which have returned, while eight have been killed.

"Those who have returned are under police surveillance and the citizens of Serbia may feel secure," said Djurovic, who chairs the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, adding that there is "no threat of terror attacks."

Serbia will become the 34th country to ratify the Convention, she said.
