President thankful to Laos for position on Kosovo

BELGRADE Tomislav Nikolic has thanked Deputy PM and FM of Laos Thonglun Sisoulith for the country's principled stand on the so-called independence of Kosovo. Tanjug is further reporting that the president added that Serbia is committed to resolving this issue through negotiations. He told his guest that Serbia expects to get a date for the start of EU accession talks in late June, adding that this would be a good sign for foreign investors, since it will infuse them confidence to invest in the Serbian economy. Sisoulith conveyed Laos' support for the policy pursued by Serbia's state leadership with respect to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. He also said that he and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic defined concrete steps for improving bilateral cooperation, primarily in the field of economy, the Serbian president's press office released in a statement. Sisoulith relayed the invitation of the Laotian president for Nikolic to visit the country, and the Serbian president invited his counterpart to visit Serbia. Serbia is currently facing economic crisis, but it has several great chances to make progress. One of them are friendships which former Yugoslavia established across the world.
