BELGRADE Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dacic has said that the implementation of the Brussels agreement is the most important for Serbia at the moment. He added that Belgrade was ready to discuss the implementation with Pristina without a mediator. “Belgrade ready for talks without mediator” “We are ready to have direct talks with Pristina representatives, not because we were not satisfied with the EU’s mediation. On the contrary,” the prime minister said at a conference dubbed “Serbia in Security and Economic Challenges of the Euro-Atlantic Area” in Belgrade on Friday. Dacic assessed that EU High Representative Catherine Ashton’s mediation was “useful, principled and well-intentioned”. “It is of strategic importance for us now to implement the agreement with Pristina,” he added. “Serbia’s role is clear and stabile – we were and we will remain a guarantor of stability in the region, a reliable partner, a good neighbor and an active proponent of EU integration and regional cooperation,” Dacic explained. According to him, last week Belgrade sent a clear message to everybody about its policy aimed at solving Serbia’s biggest issue – the issue of Kosovo. “We showed readiness for every reasonable compromise that is in the interest of Serbia and its citizens,” the PM stressed. Noting that Serbia continued combat against crime and corruption, Dacic called on all government members to support Serbia’s economic policy and on all ministers to prepare themselves for the EU negotiating process. “There is no time to relax, real work is ahead of us,” the prime minister underscored.
