Serbian Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic believes the Serbian president and PM will not be on the negotiating team in talks with Pristina. He said he believed that neither the president nor the prime minister would head the Belgrade delegation in the continuation of the talks with Pristina because it would “mean direct or indirect recognition of Kosovo’s independence”. "President, PM won’t take part in talks with Pristina" “I think that our president and the future prime minster will be careful not to get into such a trap, to directly meet with somebody they do not recognize in a bilateral meeting,” Ivanovic told Tanjug. The state secretary stressed that it was obvious that certain political issues would be discussed in the next round of the talks and that it was “necessary to increase the political level of the negotiators”. “It can be presumed that we will have some political title, I believe it will depend of the position of the new Serbian government,” he added. Ivanovic noted that Pristina probably would not have a negotiator with a higher position than a deputy prime minster, adding that they would have to be acceptable for Serbia because “otherwise there will be no negotiations”.
