Vice President of the Democratic Party (DS) Dragan Djilas says a government with Boris Tadic as its prime minister should be formed as soon as possible. Djilas, who on Wednesday started another term as Belgrade mayor, tolf B92 that the talks about government formation DS representatives had had with officials of the coalition made up of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) and United Serbia had "gone well". "DS and SPS agree not to freeze salaries and pensions". Foundations of the governments program had been laid down - there would be no freezing of salaries and pensions, the state, rather than the citizens, would bear the cost of savings, and domestic consumption should further develop, he said. “It was agreed that that we should go out to the people with this policy and tell them honestly - the times are tough, we are going to deal with things the best we can, and we need your support,” the DS vice president said. "I deeply believe there is no reason why a new government should not be created with Tadic as the prime minister," Djilas said, adding that the SPS-PUPS-JS coalition, thanks to their excellent results at the May 6 general election, will be given a great a number of departments and a huge responsibility arising from that. Djilas estimates that the task could be completed over the next few days. Dragan Djilas (file) B92 Tanjug
