Administrative crossings still blocked

The Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings are still blocked since northern Kosovo Serbs are blocking the road in the cross-border zone. The barricade on the road between Rudnica and Jarinje is made of tree trunks that have been laid across both lanes. EULEX has stressed that both crossings are open as far as they are concerned. Vehicles are being redirected to alternative roads. They blocked both lanes of the Kosovska Mitrovica-Ribarice road when they saw EULEX vehicles were part of the KFOR convoy. Although the Serbs stated they did not wish to obstruct KFOR's freedom of movement and that its troops could pass, the entire convoy returned to southern Kosovska Mitrovica. When the convoy showed up in Zupce, sirens went off in Zubin Potok, gathering a large crowd of people at the roadblock. The barricade is guarded by a number of people at all times. After the convoy turned back, the Serbs reopened one of the lanes in Zupce. They say everyone is allowed to pass except EULEX. The KFOR convoy returned two hours later, but without EULEX officials, so it went through without problems. There are people on watch in the neighboring village of Jagnjenica as well. KFOR set up a checkpoint there several days ago. The soldiers have fortified their camp in Jagnjenica by setting up containers instead of tents. The camp has also been strengthened by concrete slabs and bags filled with dirt and sand that have been placed on the road. German and Turkish troops are located there. There have been no obstructions of traffic between Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
