Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic says the Serbian government wants support for a budget revision that envisages EUR 870mn for elections. He said that his party had done everything a party could do with 12 MPs and that it did not want to support the government anymore. “LDP won’t support budget revision” Jovanovic told daily Politika that the LDP had voted for all European laws just like it had announced in 2008 and that the current government did not have capacity for “truth, responsibility and change of policy”. He added that it “is nothing new that the government is looking for a meaning of policy in counting 126 votes at any price”. “The government is just standing by in the country it has nothing to offer as a solution anymore and it is leaving destroyed economy behind, social policy has been reduced to parties’ mercy, education system that does not give our children a chance for the future life,” the LDP leader pointed out. He added that the LDP will not just sit in parliament unlike majority of parties who turn a blind eye and deal with ratification of some “cosmetic” international agreements and endless indebtedness. “We are asking for a plan for these two months. If there is no plan, it is better to go the elections immediately and through them find a new government that will be able to remove obstacles to the candidacy and begin negotiations with the EU,” Jovanovic said. He pointed out that a more efficient Serbia and changes were “impossible” without stronger LDP and that “creation of an efficient state, care for people and a different awareness than the one that has turned into a group of parties without responsibility” was important to the party. The LDP leader stressed that this was why changes needed to start immediately and that his party wanted to lead the process. Cedomir Jovanovic
