Security agency BIA chief Sasa Vukadinovic said on Thursday that the agency made a security assessment ahead of October 10. The information was then sent to the appropriate state bodies, he explained, and stressed that BIA is aiding the police in identifying the hooligans involved in the incidents in Genoa on Tuesday. "Agency assessed security situation accurately" At a meeting of the parliamentary Defense and Security Committee, Vukadinovic said that BIA made a security assessment on October 8 - before the October 10 gay parade in Belgrade - and sent it to the appropriate state bodies on the same day, noting that the assessment was "very good since 95 percent of it unfortunately came true". "We are aiding the police which is doing most of the work in identifying everyone involved in the incidents in Genoa," said the director of BIA, and added that the agency is also at the disposal of other state bodies in prosecuting all individuals who caused damage to Serbia with their violent actions. Vukadinovic expressed admiration for the Serbian police officers who were the biggest victims on October 10, and underlined that they must get better treatment. He also commended the services which carried out a finely tuned and synchronized operation, and added he hopes that efficient prosecution will serve as a general preventive measure. Also in Belgrade on Thursday, the Serbian government met and said it decided that state institutions should pursue intensive activities for fighting organized crime, extremist groups and other organizations which are violating public law and order and endangering the safety of citizens and property. The Serbian government concluded that state institutions should as soon as possible take to justice all perpetrators and organizers of acts of vandalism, the government press office said in a release. The government noted that the security situation in the country is stable and that the police have done their job of protecting public order professionally and in line with the law during the escalation of violence in Belgrade last Sunday, the statement said.
