Today, the sixth general elections since the Dayton agreement are being held in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The citizens will vote for Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, president and vice president of Republic of Srpska (RS), a central parliament as well as parliaments of the two autonomous entities and assemblies of the cantons. Race for presidency of RS More than three million voters in Bosnia-Herzegovina will be able to use their right to vote and decide for one of 39 political parties, 11 coalitions and 13 independent candidates. There are 19 candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Srpska. The hot favorites are Ognjen Tadic of the opposition coalition Zajedno za Srpsku (Together for RS) and the candidate of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik. "Our capital is Banja Luka, the capital of our nation is Belgrade, never Sarajevo," Dodik said. There are 20 candidates in the race for membership seats in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The favorite for the Serbian member is Nebojsa Radmanovic of the SNSD and Mladen Ivanic of the opposition coalition Zajedno za Srpsku. For Bosniak seat in the Presidency, the battle will be fought between the candidate of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and Alija Izetbegovic's son Bakir Izetbegovic on the one hand, and the candidate of the Party for a better future Fahrudin Radoncic and owner of Dnevni Avaz daily, on the other. However, the surveys point to the candidate of the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina Haris Silajdzic as the most likely to win a seat. The favourite for the Croat seat is Zeljko Komsic of the Social Democratic Party. Although vocally announced by all parties, no changes are expected by the citizens of Banja Luka after October 3. Transparency International, as well as many other NGOs, have followed the campaign and public opinion polls attentively. They believe that after the elections, there is a possibility of changes in the country-wide balance of power, but without any significant impact on the situation in Bosnia as a whole. More than five thousand voting polls will be opened, and Central Electoral Commission announced that the preliminary election results would be announced before midnight on Sunday.
