Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said that a partition of Kosovo would reopen the question of changing borders in all the Balkans. He said that this is why no one is considering the partitioning of Kosovo as a serious option. Thaci speaks about Kosovo partition ideas “The territorial integrity of Kosovo is untouchable, internationally recognized and guaranteed, and Kosovo will integrate into NATO and the EU with these borders,” Thaci said. He said that the security situation is a lot more stable and that it has contributed to the integration of members of all communities in the institutions and society. “We have strengthened our security institutions, the Kosovo police, the Security Agency, and the Security Forces of Kosovo, as well as the presence of NATO. Everything in the field of security is moving towards Euro-Atlantic norms, standards and rules,” Thaci said. He said that this situation has influenced a decrease in the number of international peace keepers in Kosovo, adding that these numbers are expected to continue to decrease. He said that the main security challenges in Kosovo will be to integrate northern Kosovo into the Pristina institutions and to establish the rule of law in the province. He called on the International Civil Office to not be tardy with forming the joint working groups for implementing the northern Kosovo strategy. “Kosovo Serbs will achieve their rights in the most affirmative way while fully respecting the territorial integrity of the ‘Republic of Kosovo,’ strengthening the sovereignty of the ‘state of Kosovo,’ and fully respecting the Ahtisaari plan,” the Kosovo Prime Minister said.
