The former Serbian Army chief-of-staff, Lieutenant General Zdravko Ponos, is soon to become an assistant foreign minister. Ponos has not taken up a new post since stepping down as chief-of-staff on December 30, 2008. He will be given an army pension and move to the Foreign Ministry, daily Blic states. "Ponos to become Jeremic's assistant" Ponos is on friendly terms with Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, as they were both advisers to President Boris Tadic when he was defense minister, says Blic, quoting a source from the government who wished to remain anonymous, adding that Ponos would be responsible for international military contacts.
