Albanians want "Preševo Valley region"

An assembly of ethnic Albanian officials, made up of councilors from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, want the Presevo Valley to become its own region. The local assembly has adopted a political declaration in which it rejects all violence which could lead to destabilization in the Presevo Valley in southern Serbia. Albanians want "Presevo Valley region" It also reject all “spectacular” actions of special police forces and threats of new arrests for former members of the so-called Presevo, Medvedja, Bujanovac Liberation Army, “with the goal of instilling fear into the Albanian civil population.” The declaration adds that the most recent actions of the special police are a continuation of the constant efforts towards the criminalization of the Albanians as a collective. It is also stated that these actions continue the political manipulation of the question of crimes and “the existence of terrorism, in an effort to take away the attention of the international public from the incomplete obligations of the state in its agreement for the reorganization of the coordination center since March 2009, the government program of 2001, and the Konculj agreement of 2001. The assembly called for the freeing of Albanians arrested in December 2008, accused of war crimes, or to have them processed by an international legal mechanism instead.
