The EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, has started mediating in talks between representatives of Belgrade and Pristina, writes an Albanian language daily. Koha Ditore quotes high ranking EULEX officials as saying that this mission is "very interested in finding acceptable solutions for Belgrade and Pristina over those issues that are of a technical nature, such as border management, missing persons and police cooperation of Kosovo and Serbia". The article continues to say that the recent visit by EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana "served as the start of talks over the establishment of joint customs points between Serbia and Kosovo". Koha Ditore claims that until several weeks ago, only discussions "on border and police cooperation" were held. "As a technical mission, we are interested in finding joint solutions between Pristina and Belgrade on these issues," EULEX spokesman Christophe Lamfalussy was quoted as saying, but he would not comment on the details of the talks held between this mission's representatives and Belgrade. The newspaper's unnamed sources also reportedly said that EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon has "regular consultations with Kosovo PM Hasim Thaci on the talks the mission conducts with Belgrade".
